One Young World

One Young World was founded in 2009 by David Jones and Kate Robertson. It’s a UK-based charity that gathers together the brightest young leaders from around the world, empowering them to make lasting connections to create positive change.

The Kofi Annan Foundation, with the support of the European Commission and One Young World, brought together 10 young leaders. Their task: Lead the way in countering and preventing violent extremism, amongst their peers, their communities, across borders and cultures. Under the banner “Extremely Together” they pool ideas, share experiences and produce a toolkit enabling them, their peers and thousands of young people around the world, to turn the tide in the fight against extremism.

The Kofi Annan Foundation mobilises political will to overcome threats to peace, development and human rights. In most cases the expertise and evidence needed to solve pressing problems such as poverty, armed conflict and poor governance already exist. What holds us back is lack of leadership or political will to identify and deliver solutions. The Foundation mobilises those who are in a position to influence and bring leadership to the world’s most pressing problems.

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development established National Youth Centre in the geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Through the Southwest zonal office, the Ministry supported Tolerance Academy project for the implementation of Cohort III which held in 2014.

Hedayah sets to be the premier international center and operational platform for expertise and experience to counter violent extremism by promoting understanding and sharing of good practices to effectively serve as the true global center to counter violent extremism.
